Linear Alkyl Benzene Sulfonic Acid, commonly known as LABSA or Acid Slurry, is a chemical substance belonging to the Anionic Surfactant category of chemicals. “Surfactant”

Linear Alkyl Benzene Sulphonic Acid is a largest volume synthetic surfactant because of its relatively low cost, good performance, the fact that it can be dried to a stable powder and the biodegradable environmental friendliness. LAB Sulphonic Acid is an anionic surfactant widely used in formulation of all ranges of Domestic Detergents Powder ,Cake & Dish wash cleaners. Due to its high active matter , miscibility with water and low salt content , it is also used in formulation of Industrial & Household liquid cleaners as well as in numerous industrial applications like as a coupling agent and as an emulsifier for agricultural herbicides and in emulsion polymerization.

LABSA is the most widely used “Detergent Grade” Surfactant mainly used to produce household detergents including laundry powders, laundry liquids, dishwashing liquids and other household cleaners as well as in numerous industrial applications like as a coupling agent and as an emulsifier for agricultural herbicides and in emulsion polymerization.

Synthetic detergent industries in formulation of Washing powder, Detergent powder, Detergent cake, Liquid Soap, Cleaning powder, Scouring Bar, Oil soaps etc

  • Washing Powder
  • Detergent Powder
  • Detergent Cake
  • Liquid Soap
  • Cleaning Powder
  • Scouring Bar
  • Oil Soaps etc.

Apart from this, It is used in Anionic specialty formulations and other Industries like textile industries being used as mercerizing or washing agent. Moreover, to increase the surface area of distempers, our products are frequently used by the paint and distemper manufacturing companies.

Linear Alkyl Benzene Sulphonic Acid (LABSA)- Soft Acid Slurry is main raw material for:

  • Synthetic detergent industries in formulation of Washing powder, Detergent powder, Detergent cake, Liquid Soap, Cleaning powder, Scouring Bar, Oil soaps etc.
  • It is used in anionic specialty formulations
  • In other industries such as textile industries, it is used as an mercerising or washing agent
  • It is used to increase the surface area of distempers
  • As main active matter in all forms of Detergents like Cake, Powder and Liquid formulations
  • As emulsifier and wetting agent in small quantity with other surfactants in Toilet soaps for foaming
  • In Pesticides to improve the quality of spray

USP’s of LABSA 90% over LABSA 96%

  • It is extremely versatile and can be used in all detergent formulations be it powder, cake, liquid or paste.
  • When compared to 96% LABSA on 100% basis, it is always cost effective.
  • The presence of higher free Sulphuric acid in LABSA 90% is desirable as it leads to the formulation of Sodium Sulphate when reacted with Na2CO3.
  • Free oil or NDOM is basically the unreacted alkyl benzene that is present in LABSA. Any presence of oily matter is harmful for the detergent as it reduces the foaming activity and acts as an anti detergent. Free oil in LABSA 90% is maximum 1%; but the normal result is between 0.25% – 0.6% and the quality of detergent is much better.
  • Colour of LABSA 90% is max 50 klett; but ours is normally 25-30 klett and is very much suitable for the production of white powder.

Cost Factor Cost of labsa 90% Sulphonation Plant is 1/10th as compared to labsa 96 % Sulphonation plant thereby giving huge cost advantage as a result of which LABSA 90% can be offered to consumers at competitive prices vis-a-vis labsa 96%

Labsa 90 % has 5-6 % Free Acid which is converted to Glauber Salt (Sodium Sulphate) on reaction with Soda Ash which is the common ingredient for all Detergent Powders. This Glauber Salt helps in keeping End Product i.e Detergent Powder free flowing and imparts anti-caking properties which is absent in Detergents formulated with labsa 96%
